What We Do

Key functions of the MI-PPP Unit.

  1. 01

Nurturing and protecting India’s biomedical innovation ecosystem

Strengthening India’s biomedical intellectual property ecosystem by facilitating the identification, protection and strategic utilization of intellectual property, and accelerating the translation and commercialization of innovations developed by ICMR intramural and extramural grantees, medical colleges, research institutions, start-ups, MSMEs and other biomedical innovators through the flagship Medical Innovations Patent Mitra initiative.

  2. 02

    Technology transfer & innovator–industry engagement

Facilitating technology transfer, industry partnerships, and implementation of technology transfer and biomaterial transfer mechanisms for commercialization of healthcare technologies through Medical Innovations Patent Mitra.

  3. 03

Biomedical innovation facilitation through ICMR–CDSCO MedTech Mitra

Accelerating translation of biomedical research into affordable, accessible and globally competitive healthcare technologies through strategic innovation facilitation, technology maturation and industry engagement — from technology development, regulatory facilitation and clinical validation to market adoption.

  4. 04

Biomedical entrepreneurship & technology translation ecosystem development

Fostering entrepreneurship development, strategic partnerships and coordinated implementation of technology translation initiatives through nationwide implementation of policies such as the ICMR/DHR Policy on Biomedical Innovation & Entrepreneurship for Medical Professionals, Scientists and Technologists at Medical, Dental and Para-Medical Institutes/Colleges.

  5. 05

    Other innovator- and industry-facing initiatives

Any other innovator and / or industry facing initiatives to advance the biomedical innovation ecosystem.
